Fence have many meanings like barrier ,enclosed area, stoppage or obstacle .here we will take the meaning of fence as an obstacle. also we will focus especially on vaishnava offence because its considered to be the most serious offence among all the offences. Vaishnava aparadh is 1st offence unto the holyname of krsna.
Srila Narottam Das Thakur prays in his song ' Prayers To Vaishnava' that
"hari-sthāne aparādhe tāre hari-nām
tomā sthāne aparādhe nāhi paritrāṇ"
"The holy name delivers one who has committed an offense to Lord Hari. But, if one commits an offense to you, there is no means of deliverance."
Mahaprabhu would call vaishnav aparadh as Hati Mata aparadh - the mad elephant offence , as a mad elephant may trample all the plants in garden , so by commuting one offence at lotus feet of vaishnava one may spoil all the devotional service he has accumulated in his life .
Krishna can tolerate offence unto him but he can't forgive someone who offends vaishnava, we can learn this from examples of Durvasa muni who offended Ambarish, Gopal chapal who offended Srivas thakur . One can not escape from results of vaishnava offence by doing extra rounds or some austerity one need to beg forgiveness from that particular devotee who is offended. Both above mentioned examples had to go and beg forgiveness from Ambarish and Srivas Thakur respectively then they were forgiven by Lord. Harinam chintamani says, " If by chance one commits vaishnava aparadha then he must beg forgiveness from vaishnava very earnestly holding his feet. A vaishnava is very merciful so he will immediately embrace him and forgive him for all offences ."
Prabhpuad once said one should maintain fearful attitude which means careful attention while dealing with Krishna and His devotees, he also said actual business of devotee is to appreciate the value of other devotees and nobody should criticize anyone.
So let's have careful dealings with everyone so that soon we reach desired goal, Krsna Prema.
