*Are we Misusing Our Independence ?*

India got freedom on 15th August,1947. We celebrate this day each year to pay homage to our leaders and those who fought for India's freedom in the past. This year we will be observing 70th Independence Day, but I don't find any remarkable changes in India over last 70 years, still politicians are corrupt, still so many crimes happening everyday, still farmers committing suicide, rapes, terrorism, many dying out of hunger, news channels may have increased but news are same as 70 years ago. So I wonder many times that, yes, we have got the independence but have we made proper utilization of independence or we misused it?

Off course we have misused our independence which was acquired by struggles of Tilak, Savarkar, Subhashchandra Bose, Bhagatsing and many others. They sacrificed their life, toiled day and night thinking after independence everyone will be happy. What not we could have done in past 70 years to make everyone happy and satisfied, but those who were in power(politicians) they first thought of themselves selfishly neglecting the general populace, They misused the power for their own enjoyment.

Similarly soul is also independent, God has given him the choices or free will. He can properly use his free will, the independence or misuse it. He can do whatever he likes. Many people ask the question why soul comes to this material world? Answer is very simple, because he misused his independence, he wanted to enjoy independently from God and thus God sent him in this world to enjoy separately. There are so many scriptural example stating this fact. Ajamil, misused his independence and became attached to prostitute and fell down from brahmnical standards, Shishupal misused his speaking power to blasfame Krishna. Attraction for sense enjoyment is main cause of misusing free will and one forgets real aim of life too. Proper usage of free will is cause of liberation but improper use will surely bond us.

God never interferes in our independence, at the end of Gita Lord Krishna said to Arjuna that, "I have told you whole Bhagavad Gita, but now do whatever you like". No doubt that Arjuna followed Krishna and His will and he became victorious and successful. So let's not misuse our independence by choosing sense gratification which is cause of our fall down but properly utilize independence by showing our dependence on Krishna and path of Bhakti shown by Krishna in Gita.
